FB Johnston Group Expanding Headquarters

CHAPIN, SC-The FB Johnston Group is expanding its 38,000-sf headquarters here three-fold, in part to make room for its manufacturing operation, which is currently located in Hillsborough, NC.The additions to its headquarters, located at 300 East Boundary St., will include 68,000 sf of manufacturing space and 11,000 sf of office space. The plant in Hillsborough (348 Elizabeth Brady Rd.), which it will begin vacating late this year, includes two 28,000-sf buildings on 20 acres. Currently, the company employs 75 in Hillsborough and 95 in Chapin. The company says it intends to offer jobs at the Chapin facility to all employees in North Carolina who are interested. Company president and COO Jim O’Rourke says the company expects to double in size over the next five years. The current expansion has been designed to allow for an additional 100,000 sf to accommodate growth beyond that amount, he says. “As we have grown over the past few years, we have carefully weighed our options to remain our industry’s low-cost producer and concluded that this consolidation into one location is in our best interest for future growth,” says O’Rourke.FB Johnston Group provides design, printing fulfillment, installation, inventory management services and on-site management support to original equipment manufacturers and point-of-purchase retailers. Products range from signage and graphics on the pumps at BP gas stations to menu slats for Burger King restaurants. Annual revenues for the firm are approximately $30 million.
