Science Organization Adds New 55,000-SF Building

BETHESDA, MD-Construction of a new 55,000-sf office structure has reached completion, leaving the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology with some much-needed extra space. Hubert Construction LLC spearheaded the $10.4-million construction endeavor. Designed by Barry Dunn and Associates, the new five-story facility is attached by a glass atrium to an existing 105,000-sf building. The structure’s delivery comes exactly 18 months after construction began in 2002.Hubert Construction’s workload extended well beyond building the new office space and attached atrium. The construction firm was also charged with developing a single-level parking area totaling 10,500 sf beneath the offices, as well as a separate four-story, 75,000-sf parking facility. More development is said to be on the horizon at the biomedical and life science organization’s grounds. FASEB’s headquarters occupies a sprawling 11.5-acre parcel with much more room for additional construction.
