CORAL GABLES, FL-KM Construction Co., a new local general contractor, was recently awarded contracts for three significant projects totaling 84,000 sf, including HSBC Bank USA’s 60,000-sf space in the Offices at Four Seasons Hotel and Tower.KM Construction’s biggest contract was for the build-out of HSBC Bank USA’s office space in the $400-million landmark Four Seasons, a new 70-story, class A, mixed-use tower situated on five acres at 1441 Brickell Ave. in Miami. The project involves offices, conference centers, high-end reception spaces and a banking center. Construction started early this year and is expected to be completed this month. The architect for the project is Ray Feito of Architectural Design Collaborative. Glen Olson of the Olson Group is providing project management services to the bank.In a second deal, Steiner Leisure Management hired KM Construction to build out its new, 19,000-sf office space. Steiner, an international spa management company, is the parent company of Elemis Spa at the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables. The company’s new space, designed by the interior design firm Slack Alvarez Associates, will include executive offices, conference rooms and a data center. KM Construction also built out Elemis Spa a year ago.In addition to these two newest projects–which total79,000 sf–last August, KM Construction began construction on the Fisher Island Day School, located on the prestigious Fisher Island. The 5,000-sf, Mediterranean-style project will house office space, four classrooms, a kitchen, a media room and a water feature play area. This project was designed by the architectural firm Sandy Babcock and Associates of Coral Gables and is set to be completed in May.Locally based KM Construction Co. was founded in 2002 by Ron Katz and Brad M. Meltzer. Katz is co-owner and CEO of KM Construction, and Meltzer is co-owner and president.
