The RKF Brokerage Services division is the firm's core brokerage services. CEO Robert Futterman, heads the unit's brokerage activity in Manhattan, while David Rosenberg and Barry Fishbach, executive vice presidents, will oversee activity in the outer boroughs and suburban markets in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
RKF Retail Property Advisors will focus on lifestyle retail and mixed-use projects in the national arena and will be headed by Friedel, who was most recently with the Related Cos. He says the division aims to assist owners and developers in "devising the right merchandising mix, positioning or repositioning their projects, and executing these strategies from a leasing perspective."
RKF Strategic Retailer Services, which also has a national focus and is headed by Robert Cohen working here and in Los Angeles, will assist retailers in developing and executing a strategic plan, whether that includes expanding regionally or nationally or delving into new markets. He notes that capabilities will include market analysis, site selection and managing and maintaining portfolios for lease renewals. Other functions will concentrate on advising retailers on strategies for underperforming stores, or evaluating markets demographically to determine how and where they fit into expansion plans.
The company remains based in New York, with an office in Los Angeles. One of the company's current projects is marketing and leasing Desert Passage in Las Vegas.And retail, the industry darling during the recent economic crisis, should continue on the upswing this year, according to Rick Latella, senior managing director, Retail Valuation, of Cushman & Wakefield. Strong performance of retail REITs, low interest rates and the overall performance of the economy will bode well for retail real estate, C&W says.
