Stowe Plaza Under Way

POWAY, CA-Construction kicks off on the Stowe Plaza retail asset, which is rising at Scripps Poway Parkway and Stowe Drive in the city. The project will consist of three facilities encompassing more than 12,000 sf at build-out.

POWAY, CA-The Stowe Plaza retail plaza is currently rising here, as construction has recently kicked off on the $1.5-million project.Designed to encompass more than 12,000 sf at build-out, the development is being constructed in two phases. The first phase has been planned to include two buildings that will house restaurants, convenience stores and a food court upon completion. Phase II will consist of a freestanding facility designed to accommodate “complementary services, such as financial institutions,” according to KMA Architecture & Engineering, which is providing architecture and planning services for the project. Stowe Plaza will feature a contemporary design with cubic forms and cantilevered overhangs. The two buildings of Phase I will be connected by trellises that will also serve to provide “weather protection,” according to KMA. Design plans also call for “special events” facilities and pedestrian walkways, which will be incorporated into the plaza’s proposed food court. The project’s developer is Stowe Properties LLC. In addition to Stowe Properties and KMA, additional firms working on Stowe Plaza include structural engineer Nowak + Wiseman, civil engineer RBF Consulting, landscape architect MW Peltz & Associates and general contractor Starrett Construction.The Stowe Plaza project is coming to fruition in Poway as North County’s overall retail market is fortifying its presence in the Southland region. “Continued residential expansion in North County is solidifying the submarket’s position as a retail hotbed,” according to a February 2004 retail research report published by Marcus & Millichap.
