First CVS/Pharmacy Drive-Thru Hits DC

WASHINGTON, DC-A ribbon cutting ceremony attended today by local officials and business community members has officially opened the new CVS/Pharmacy store at 6500 Georgia Ave. The new 10,100-sf store marks the first of the new CVS pharmacy prototype–which features drive-thru services and perimeter parking–to be developed in Washington, DC. Roadside Development is behind the Little & Associates-designed project, which cost $2.5 million to realize. LF Jennings was onboard as the contractor.Located in the underserved Brightwood community, the CVS store is a welcomed destination for area residents. “We have been working with the Brightwood Community for several years on this site,” says Roadside Development partner Armond Spikell. “Retail along Georgia Avenue is not reflective of the quality of community, our goal was to bring a quality development to the neighborhood and we want to do more work in this neighborhood.
