The luxury hotel will feature 24 suites, a cafe, nightclub, roof-top event space and become the new home of La Belle Vie restaurant.
The hotel will be modeled after the original Chambers hotel, which is located in New York City, in the heart of the upscale Fifth Avenue retail district.
Like its sister hotel, the Minneapolis Chambers will be a small, intimate, luxury hotel featuring highly personalized service, contemporary fine art and fine quality cuisine. The 24 suites in the hotel will range in size between 575 sf to 850 sf and rates are expected to average $350 per night based on the individual suite.
Ira Drukier is a partner in the new venture and will manage the new hotel's operations. Drukier and his company, BD hotels, also operate the Chambers and Mercer Hotels in New York City, two of the most visible boutique hotel operations in the country. The project will use no city or government funds.
Ralph Burnet, a well-recognized Twin Cities businessman who is well known in the residential real estate industry, is the general partner for the new venture. With the exception of Drukier, all the investors are residents of the Twin Cities and surrounding communities.
"Chambers will be unlike anything else in the city," Burnet says. "It will offer the ultimate combination of contemporary art, fine cuisine and personalized service."
A distinctive feature of the boutique hotel will be the collection of fine contemporary art displayed throughout its public spaces and individual suites. The sister hotel in New York features more than 500 pieces of original art, including a minimum of four original artworks in each room.
