"We learned a lot about our Canadian customers from this survey," says Karen Mac Donald, director of communications for Taubman.
More than half--55 %--of the Canadians who buy in US malls are men. These males also outspend their female counterparts when they cross the border. The survey found that in the past year the men spent an average of $332 in American malls, compared to $317 for women. The men are also slightly more likely to spend more than $500 annually.
Across both genders, average annual spending is $325, with almost half of respondents spending more than $250.
Taubman is based in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
