The 59,000-sf supermarket boasts a bakery/deli, floral department and nature's market, a health and nutrition program as well as drive-thru pharmacy.
The store is expected to employ about 170 people, almost double the 90 employed at the Kroger store in Genoa Township that closed, says Dale Hollandsworth of the company's Great Lakes Division office in Columbus, OH.
The Crossroads Town Center will provide about 148,000 sf of commercial space when completed, according to the Thomas A. Duke Co. of Farmington Hills, which is handling leasing contract negotiations.
The shopping center is 85% leased, including signed contracts with a Coney Island restaurant, a chiropractor, a check-cashing business and a nail salon, officials say.
Ladies Workout Express was the first business to open at Crossroads on March 30. The fitness franchise has 80 members.
"Crossroads is a well-rounded development that was needed on this side of town," fitness club owner Colleen Brackett says. "I'm excited to be part of it."
Meanwhile, construction in ongoing at several Crossroads businesses, including The Great Clips For Hair salon, which is scheduled to open mid-May. Great Clips salon is a chain that boasts salons in Michigan, seven in Metro Detroit.
Troy Cleaners also plans to open a dry-cleaning business at Crossroads on May 5. The Flint-based company operates 12 locations in Livingston, Oakland and Genesee counties.
By June, Jet's Pizza will also open its third location in Livingston County at Crossroads. The new store will have carryout and delivery service. Based in Sterling Heights, Jet's currently operates stores in Brighton and Hartland among the more than 100 locations in Michigan.
