In a prepared statement, Cousins president and CEO Tom Bell didn't say why Charlesworth is retiring at the age of 55. Charlesworth will continue to serve as executive vice president, chief investment officer and senior advisor to Bell on a part-time basis.

James A. Fleming, the REIT's senior vice president and general counsel, will be named executive vice president and chief financial officer in August. "While we very much regret losing Tom Charlesworth's full-time service, we are fortunate to have a strong team in place, with talent executives able to step up and assume larger responsibilities," Bell says.

In other corporate moves, Craig B. Jones, senior vice president and president of the office division, moves up as executive vice president and chief administrative officer. Mark A. Russell, a vice president and an investment officer, has been promoted to senior vice president and senior investment officer.

In the office division, senior vice president John S. McColl will head all office development and leasing activities. Senior vice president Jack A. LaHue will oversee asset management and property management activities. Both will report to vice chairman Dan DuPree.
