Former Seminary Site To Get $24M Hotel

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI-The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit will build a hotel at its St. John's Golf and Conference Center--the site of a former seminary--in Detroit's western suburbs.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI-A former Roman Catholic seminary in this Detroit suburb will soon be the site of an upscale hotel and golf course. The Archdiocese of Detroit plans to build a $24-million upscale hotel at the St. John’s Golf and Conference Center this summer on the sprawling 200-acre campus that once housed St. John’s Provisional Seminary.

The center already hosts more than 200 weddings a year, as well as other functions, the Archdiocese reports. The hotel. which will be completed next year, is expected to enhance that business. The church says it routinely turns away conferences and large weddings due to the lack of lodging at the conference center now.

The hotel, to be dubbed the Inn at St. John’s, will be designed by architects Brown-Teefy & Associates of Bloomfield Hills. Frank Rewold & Sons Inc., of Rochester will serve as the contractor.
