Taubman Aims to Start 500,000-SF Lifestyle Center

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI-The Bloomfield Hills-based mall owner and developer says it is close to agreement on a lifestyle center at M-5 and Pontiac Trail in Commerce Township.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI-Taubman Centers Inc. says it will soon sign a construction agreement to build an open-air shopping center in Commerce Township. The new “lifestyle center” will be at M-5 and Pontiac Trail and could open in late 2006 pending township approval, says John L. Simon, senior vice president of development for Bloomfield Hills-based Taubman Centers.

The center will have approximately 500,000 sf of retail space.

Taubman Centers says it is looking at building a lifestyle center at M-59 and Romeo Plank in Clinton Township, Simon adds. The company owns and operates 31 shopping malls, including Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi, Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills and Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn.
