The public radio station plans to tear down the building this summer and build its own office complex.
The new building at 555 Wabasha St. is located on the north edge of Downtown, directly across from the State Capitol. The new project includes a 107-space parking ramp for agency clientele and employees and a rain garden at 11th and St. Peter streets.
Using the sale proceeds from Minnesota Public Radio and other resources, the St. Paul Public Housing Agency constructed the new office building next to its 545 Wabasha Hi-Rise in Downtown St. Paul.
The new building houses the St. Paul Public Housing Agency's administrative offices for public housing and Section 8, including the rental office. Almost one-quarter of the new building will be rented to commercial tenants, generating revenue to supplement the agency's federal housing subsidies.
St. Paul Public Housing Agency is currently leasing space in the new building to tenants look for anywhere from 1,000 sf to 10,000 sf. The agency has assigned Marilyn Porter, its technical services director, as leasing contact.
