Sporting Goods Retailer Expands Facility to 602,000 SF

SMITHTON, PA-Pittsburgh-based Dick's Sporting Goods adds 214,000 sf to its existing 388,000-sf distribution center here. The state helps fund the expansion with $384,000 in job creation tax credits and a $250,000 opportunity grant.

SMITHTON, PA-Dick’s Sporting Goods, which established its headquarters in Pittsburgh a decade ago, is adding 214,000 sf to its existing 388,000-sf distribution center here. The addition is expected to be in operation in early 2005.

The expansion will create 128 jobs over the next three years, increasing overall employment at the facility to 703. Gov. Ed Rendell’s economic development action team supported the expansion and the state will provide $384,000 in job creation tax credits and a $250,000 opportunity grant.
