Grocery Opens in Retail Center, Park on Way

DETROIT-A Save-A-Lot Food Center grocery store has opened in a $4.5-million neighborhood center revitalization plan in Detroit. Additional stores are planned for phase II of the project developed by ShoreBank and Parkside Development, L.L.C.

DETROIT-A grocery store that opened on Detroit’s far East Side is just one example of redevelopment happening in the area, according to a local bank that is helping with the financing on the project. A Save-A-Lot Food Center is now open in the Conner Avenue Square Neighborhood Retail Center, on Conner Avenue between East Warren and Mack.

The opening of the store marks the end of phase I of the $4.5-million redevelopment project. Still to come at the center are a shoe store, clothing stores, restaurants and retail outlets, according to executives with ShoreBank, which is providing the financing on the project.

ShoreBank has partnered with Parkside Development, L.L.C., a commercial and residential developer, on the project.
