NOVATO, CA-The publicly traded staffing firm Hall Kinion & Associates Inc. is closing its headquarters here as part of its pending acquisition by Tampa, FL-based Kforce Inc., another publicly traded staffing firm. The company leases 17,510 sf at 75 Rowland Way. Finalization of the merger is set for early June. A Hall Kinion executive tells GlobeSt.com the office will close “toward the end of June.” The company will lay off all 62 employees working out of the office. The merged company will have 1,400 staffers and 8,000 consultants working out of 80 offices in 45 markets. Hall Kinion moved to Novato from Larkspur, CA in July 2002. According to Hall Kinion, all real estate decisions are being made by Kforce. The Kforce executive in charge of real estate did not return a phone call seeking comment on the remaining lease term, if any, and whether they would buy out the lease or try to sublease the space.75 Rowland Way is an 80,645-sf class A office building located next to the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center. Hall Kinion occupies the second floor. Larkspur-based Meridian Commercial has the leasing assignment. A source there tells GlobeSt.com Kforce will likely try and sublease the space. Not including the Hall Kinion space, the building currently has about 20,000 sf available for lease. The asking rate is $2.25 per sf per month.
