Saab Cars USA Relocating HQ to RenCen

DETROIT-General Motors is moving its Saab subsidiary's headquarters operations from suburban Atlanta to its world headquarters at the Renaissance Center. All of the GM brands will have headquarters operations in the Motor City.

DETROIT-Score another headquarters relocation for Detroit’s Central Business District. Saab Cars USA will be moving its corporate headquarters from Norcross, GA, northeast of Atlanta, to the General Motors world headquarters at the Renaissance Center in Detroit. The move will take several months and Saab’s new corporate office should be fully operational by Sept. 7. Saab Cars USA is a subsidiary of GM-owned Saab Automobile AB of Sweden. In recent months, GM’s presence at the RenCen has prompted moves by OnStar and EDS to move into that facility. A few blocks away, Compuware recently opened its new headquarters Downtown.

The move of Saab to the RenCen only affects about 80 employees, but means that all of the GM brands–Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Oldsmobile, Pontiac/GMC, Saab and Saturn–will have headquarters operations in the Motor City.

“This move will allow us to save a significant amount in facilities and other structural costs and re-direct those resources to areas that support the growth of the Saab brand in the US market,” says Debra Kelly-Ennis, Saab Cars USA’s president and chief operating officer.
