Avatar Holdings Elects Board

CORAL GABLES, FL-One member--Joel M. Simon, a partner and principal in Crossroads LLC--is new to the board, while nine members were re-elected at the locally based real estate company's annual meeting May 25.

CORAL GABLES, FL-Avatar Holdings Inc., a locally based public company mainly involved in real estate operations in Florida and Arizona, elected 10 members to its board of directors at its annual meeting May 25.Joel M. Simon, a partner and principal in Crossroads LLC, became the only new members to win a seat on the board. In addition, nine board members were re-elected: Jack Nash, chairman of the board of Avatar Holdings Inc. and managing member of ODAV LLC; Gerald D. Kelfer, vice chairman of the board, chairman of the executive committee, and president and CEO of Avatar Holdings Inc.; Eduardo A. Brea, partner and managing director of Sterling Capital Management LLC; Milton H. Dresner, founding partner of the Highland Cos.; Martin Meyerson, president emeritus and professor of policy and planning for the University of Pennsylvania; Kenneth T. Rosen, professor of business administration and chairman of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California at Berkeley; Fred Stanton Smith, vice chairman of the board for the Keyes Co.; William G. Spears, a principal in Spears, Grisanti & Brown LLC; and Beth A. Stewart, CEO and co-chairman of Storetrax.com and president of Stewart Real Estate Capital.At the meeting, stockholders also approved hiring accountants Ernst & Young LLP as the company’s auditor for this year.
