The development is located in a renovated Etonic shoe factory and consists of 61 loft- style residential condominiums ranging in size from 885 to 1,126 sf. The property also includes six ground-floor commercial spaces ranging in size from 100 to 200 sf. Units are expected to begin at $199,000. Construction is expected to be completed in February, 2005.

The 61-unit project, adjacent to the MBTA commuter station and Brockton area transit station, is in the heart of the city's transit village. The project received a $9.1-million construction loan from MassHousing under its Home Ownership Construction Loan Program.

"Etonic Lofts is a central piece of the urban renaissance we have planned for Downtown Brockton, and I'm thrilled to have this project under way," says Mayor John T. Yunits, Jr. "I anticipate this development will serve as the catalyst for Downtown Brockton's resurgence. These lofts offer people urban-style living at a very attractive price and the opportunity to live in an up-and-coming transit-village."

Etonic Lofts is the first phase in a larger development program that Cathartes is planning. The next phase, anticipated to begin in fall 2004, involves the rehabilitation of a building located at the opposite end of the transit center into a 72-unit development.
