Most recently, it held offices for the Michigan Tax Tribunal and several state Supreme Court justices.

The city owns the building at the corner of Lafayette and Shelby, but several years ago a private investor acquired an interest it, which the DDA will now buy out.

George W. Jackson Jr., a DDA board member and president of Detroit Economic Growth Corp., says the city hopes to lure a developer to renovate the building for offices and lofts.
