James M. Wilkinson of Tomball paid close to the $2.75 per sf asking price. The AB Klein Trust, also from Tomball, was the seller.
Tom Condon with Betz Commercial Brokerage Inc. in Houston tells GlobeSt.com that the property went up for sale in early May 2003. He says there were several offers to subdivide the 4.8 acres, but Wilkinson was the only one willing to buy the entire site at 6745 FM 2920. B.D. Shipwash of Tomball represented Wilkinson.
Condon says Wilkinson's existing business, the 28,800-sf Secured Public Storage, is accessible only from a side road, but the acquisition opens the door to FM 2920. He says the tentative plan calls for using 1.75 acres to expand the mini-storage facility while eyeing a retail build-out on the balance.
