YMCA has a long-term land lease agreement with Regina. The new facility will include Regina's Healthy for Life wellness program.

The new YMCA, including facility, land and equipment costs, is projected to be an $8 million project. Regina Medical Center has committed to the long-term land lease arrangement while Smead Manufacturing Co., based in Hastings, has pledged a lead donation of $2 million.

Dependent on the money raised, the facility is slated to include an aquatics center, gymnasiums, aerobics studios, running/walking track, kids gym, fitness center, teen center, locker rooms, community rooms and outdoor playgrounds. The Hastings Area Family YMCA, now housed in a small office, serves nearly 3,000 children and families throughout the area utilizing a variety of sites in the community. The partnership with Regina allows the YMCA to start raising money to build a full-facility YMCA branch.
