Larry Dunkin, Milford's town planner, tells GlobeSt.com that the most recent assessments indicate that Milford has 6.2% of its housing affordable but he adds that the figure will probably drop down to 4.8% once the town's housing supply is reassessed by the state.
Dunkin points out that if the town rezones the site, the Afonsos can build 60 units of market rate housing with an additional 30 units, according to the town's zoning laws, if they make 25% of the project's units affordable. But Dunkin says that the Afonsos have indicated to the town that if the site does get its rezoning request approved they would only build 60 two-bedroom units on the property.
