Amec and Taylor Woodrow Win 1M-SF Lewisham Scheme

LONDON-A joint venture between Amec Developments and Taylor Woodrow Developments has been selected as preferred developer for the Lewisham Gateway site in Lewisham, south-east London. Their proposals include around one million sf of development including apartments, shops, bars, restaurants and leisure amenities.

LONDON-The London Development Agency, the London Borough of Lewisham and Transport for London have selected their preferred developer for the £250-million ($450-million) redevelopment of the Lewisham Gateway site in Lewisham, south-east London. A joint venture between Amec Developments and Taylor Woodrow Developments emerged as top of the shortlist with proposals for one million sf of development including apartments, shops, bars, restaurants and leisure amenities.In addition the project will provide a new town square, an improved transport interchange and improved highway layout and a new park on the banks of the River Quaggy. The scheme is seen as one of the flagships of the London Development Agency, aiming to regenerate a run-down part of London. Charlie Fulford, project director for the development consortium, says: “Our vision for Lewisham Gateway is of high quality public realm and spectacular contemporary architecture combining to create a world class destination. We expect Lewisham Gateway to act as a catalyst for further change in the surrounding neighbourhoods.”
