Medical Offices Approved for Downtown District

WARREN, MI-William Beaumont Hospitals will begin work by this fall on a $10-million office facility in what is expected to become this city's new Downtown. Council President James Fouts suggests the project should be built elsewhere in his city.

WARREN, MI-William Beaumont Hospitals plans to build a new medical professional building in what is proposed to become the Downtown district in Michigan’s third largest city. The $10-million two-story structure, across from the Warren Police Department, is expected to open in late 2005.

Beaumont has owned the property on the northwest corner of Kennedy Circle and Common Road in Warren for several years, and now says it will begin construction by this fall. Southfield-based American Construction is the general contractor for the project.

The Warren city council voted 8-1 this week to approve the site plan for the 40,000-sf building. Council President James Fouts cast the dissenting vote because he thought the project should be located on the city’s south end.
