3M Gets Help for 100,000-SF Plant Expansion

MENOMONIE, WI-The Maplewood, MN-based manufacturer will get $500,000, evenly split between Technology Zone tax credits and a loan, to expand its plant here.

MENOMONIE, WI-3M Co. will receive $500,000 in assistance from Wisconsin to help pay for a 100,000-sf addition to its plant in this small town in western Wisconsin about 60 miles east of the Twin Cities. The Wisconsin Department of Commerce is providing 3M with $250,000 in Technology Zone tax credits and a $250,000 loan to assist the expansion, according to Gov. Jim Doyle.

3M’s project will include 100,000 sf of additional space to expand a manufacturing line of film that enhances the brightness of displays in products such as cell phones and notebook computers. The project will create 28 jobs.
