MINNEAPOLIS-Allina Hospitals has told its staff of 70 at Metro Linen Services that it will close the 21,000-sf facility at 900 S. 8th St. on Sept. 1. Mercy and Unity Hospitals had been using facility, which cleaned some 4.5 million pounds of hospital laundry per month, says Kendra Calhoun, an Allina spokeswoman.

Allina has also used Health System Cooperative Laundry, and will consolidate all of its laundry service needs there, she adds. Allina plans to hire Mark Davis & Associates to market and sell the facility, which is about 65 years old.
