Church Sells 8,000-SF Convent

BOSTON-The Mission Church sells 69 Allegheny St. in the neighborhood of Roxbury for $1.3 million to the Home for Little Wanderers. The 8,000-sf property, which sits on a one-acre parcel, was formerly a convent.

BOSTON-The Mission Church sells 69 Allegheny St. in the neighborhood of Roxbury for $1.3 million to the Home for Little Wanderers. The 8,000-sf property, which sits on a one-acre parcel, was formerly a convent.BOSTON-The Mission Church is selling 69 Allegheny St. in the neighborhood of Roxbury for $1.3 million. The Home for Little Wanderers purchased the 8,000-sf property, which was formerly a convent. The property sits on a one-acre parcel and is going to be used as a residential setting for children. James L. Elcock, executive vice president, represented the Mission Church in the sale. “This truly was a ‘win-win’ for both groups; a wonderful reuse of a convent for a great cause,” says Elcock.”While the land is spectacular, it’s just the beginning of making our dream of a dignified home a reality for the children in our care. We will press on to raise much needed funds for the renovation of the convent and hope that in the next year we will be ready to announce that our children at Spring Park Place will be moving into a beautiful, homelike and welcoming space, intended just for them,” adds Lisa Rowan-Gillis, spokesperson for the Home.
