About 135,000 sf of the existing art complex will get a makeover. Also, the property will be supplemented by the new 140,000-sf addition, which will house office space, classrooms, additional gallery space, and a retail element.

"With this support, and the vote of confidence from our city that it symbolizes, we are confident that we will be able to break ground sometime in 2006," Corcoran trustee and fundraising campaign co-chair Til Hazel. The TIF funds bring the institution's total renovation coffer up to $106 million.
