This project and others in the wings will move the city closer to its goal of increase the number and diversity of dining options for the growing community, city officials say. Increasing the diversity of restaurant options is one of the top goals for 2004-05 set by the Rosemount city council. Recent growth in the community can support more options, which will provide amenities to support the city's economic development.

Council member Mary Riley described the Applebee's announcement as "a perfect fit for Rosemount." She adds the chain was often suggested to her by residents who want more dining options close to home.

The Applebee's project will be reviewed by the planning commission July 27. Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar has more than 1,600 restaurants and describes itself as "the world's casual dining leader."
