Crosswinds Plans Giant Development Near Ann Arbor

MILAN TOWNSHIP, MI-A plan to develop some 4,900 acres in Milan Township outside Ann Arbor is drawing mixed reviews. Crosswinds Communities plans a project, which would include retail space to serve the new rooftops for 21% of the township's area.

MILAN TOWNSHIP, MI-Crosswinds Communities plans to transform 21% of this rural Ann Arbor suburb into a community boasting new stores, schools, and homes. Crosswinds Communities’ development would replace about 4,900 acres of mostly-vacant land with a large planned community offering stores, schools, libraries and hundreds of homes.

A recent township informational meeting drew 350 residents — many of whom liked the design, but others who expressed concern about traffic and noise. “Milan Township has a major freeway in US 23 and they’re in the path of growth,” says Bernie Glieberman, president of Crosswinds Communities. For Milan Township, which has 1,670 residents, the plan would mean adding 25,000 to 35,000 residents over the next 15 years.
