The project, called the Residences at 700 Harrison Avenue, also involves the creation an 8,500-sf community garden as well as 6,400 sf of retail space which will front on Harrison Avenue and E. Brookline Street. The total project cost is approximately $32 million. A December 2004 groundbreaking is expected.

The development team is comprised of Mitchell Properties LLC and two community development corporations, ETC Development Corp. and the Asian Community Development Corp. The group responded to a request for proposals by the Department of Neighborhood Development and was designated as developer of the parcel in December of 2003.

The project is part of the redevelopment of Harrison Avenue, which also involves the ArtBlock project at 731 Harrison Ave., the city's first ever artist-focused request for proposal. In June, the BRA granted final approval to New Atlantic Development Corp. for its development which involves 54 condos for residential and/or artist live/work space.
