Design Firm Leases 22,300 SF at Main Street Tower

NORFOLK, VA-MMM Design Group will relocate its corporate headquarters from an office on W. Bute St. in Norfolk to a 22,300-sf space at the Main Street Tower, a 210,000-sf office building in the heart of the city’s financial district. Divaris Real Estate Inc. represented MMM in the transaction, while Advantis Real Estate Services stood in for property owner BGK Properties Inc. According to Advantis’ most recent office report for the Hampton Roads area, Downtown Norfolk office space leases for an average $20.31 per sf.

After years of delays, the 14-story Main Street Tower, which sits at 300 E. Main St., opened its doors in 1994. Today, the class A office property is home to the likes of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., the SouthTrust Bank and the US Coast Guard, which occupies 90,000 sf at the building. With the help of Divaris, MMM searched office properties in three area cities for six months before settling on Main Street Tower.
