The property will become the new home of Furniture Classics, which will relocate to the spot from its current locale in Norfolk. Thalhimer/Cushman & Wakefield, which had the marketing assignment since 2000, orchestrated the deal on behalf of the seller.

Located on an eight-acre parcel off I-64, the building at 835 Philpotts Rd. was developed in 1972. Its inability to secure a new owner for so long--the building had been up for sale even before Thalhimer took the assignment--comes as no surprise given the state of the industrial market in the area, which in Advantis called "lackluster" with a few bright spots in 2003. However, they had predicted things would be looking up this year.
