So far, INCAT Systems officials expect to invest $7 million over the next five years in computing and office equipment at their headquarters, with other expansions to come. "We're pleased that Michigan will remain the base of operations for our professional services in North America," says INCAT chief executive officer Ulrich Herter.
"In addition to continuing to provide critical design and engineering services and IT technology to manufacturers throughout the country from this location," he adds. "We will be able to continue attracting the world's foremost experts and top technology talent to our organization and to the state."
INCAT, based in London, has 30 offices in nine countries offering product and information lifecycle management. The company currently employs 313 Michigan workers. Its North American business primarily consists of consulting and product information content services for aerospace, automotive and other durable goods manufacturers. Additionally, the company develops software for product designers and performs various other research and development activities.
The city of Novi is also supporting INCAT's expansion with assistance of up to $50,000, including $20,000 in cash for expansion expenses and the remainder to be provided through reduced or waived permit and city service fees. "This is a great Michigan victory in the battle for jobs of the 21st-century," Gov. Jennifer Granholm says. "Our pool of highly trained and skilled talent specialized in engineering, software applications and business processes makes it possible for us to draw this kind of professional services organization and create a climate of opportunity for employer and employees alike."
