The new additions will be up and running later this year and join other tenants such as Lord & Taylor and Best Buy. The center, which was purchased by Feil in 1987, is adjacent to another Feil-owned property Crescent Plaza. Nasasu Mall shares parking facilities with that 200,000 sf retail strip center. Crescent retailers include Kohl's, Loews Theatres, Michaels, Party City and Old Navy.

Feil's director of leasing Randall Briskin tells GlobeSt.com that this is the first "expansion" of the site in 10 years. In fact, he says that because the business school vacated basement space in favor of its new digs, the center will actually be 16,000-sf smaller. The No parking has been added to the site, but Briskin notes that each of the tenants sharing the parking have different "peak" times of business alleviating parking burdens.

"The mall is actually one of the early retail developments on Hempstead Turnpike, but it was antiquated and in need of change to meet the demands of today's consumers," Briskin says. The wholesale club is near to a BJ's in neighboring Farmingdale. Briskin says the company does store-opening analysis and that, while it might take some business from the other location, Levittown was the "perfect fit" in the middle of two markets. The company has another store in Westbury.

Feil, based in New York City, owns, develops and manages more than 16 million sf of retail, commercial and industrial properties, as well as hundreds of net leased properties and thousands of acres of undeveloped land across the country.
