Rebuilding Plant Owner Also Explores Purchase

HOWELL TOWNSHIP, MI-Industrial Resin Recycling Plant owner Patrick Cavanaugh has vowed he will rebuild after a recent fire at his 31,000-sf factory here. He is negotiating to buy a 50,000-sf building in Howell for his plastics company.

HOWELL TOWNSHIP, MI-A fire has swept away Patrick Cavanaugh’s 31,000-sf factory, but not his dreams. Less than a week after fire destroyed his Industrial Resin Recycling Plant near Grand River and M-59, Cavanaugh vowed to restore his once thriving business.

“Things happen for a reason,” Cavanaugh says. “I built this from the ground up, and it’s devastating to see it burned to the ground…My faith is going to bring me through this.”

Cavanaugh started the company in 1995 with his brother-in-law, Bob Houston. The company takes materials from suppliers, such as the three Detroit area automakers, separates the plastics and breaks down the materials to be used again in automotive parts.
