Other planned additions include a spa and salon, conference center, live dinner theatre, retail stores, restaurants, a sports bar and a new RV park. "This is an exciting time for the Double JJ and, we like to believe, for Oceana and surrounding counties," Lipsitz says. "There's no question Western Michigan could use some positive job news. Although our plans are long term, new jobs have already been created in laying the groundwork for expansion. We expect hiring to escalate this fall and into the foreseeable future."
Lipsitz says a focal point in drawing more guests to the West Michigan resort is the addition of the 55,000-sf water park. Its Western mine-shaft theme will feature a lazy river, two slide towers reaching 54 feet with six thrill slides, wave pool, hot tubs, two children's pools, a sports-oriented pool with basketball, volleyball and balance challenges, a 45-foot rock waterfall with climbs to elevated pools and adult and children's arcades. It will have a 1,000-person capacity, he adds.
The indoor water park will complement Double JJ's current outdoor water facility at the Back Forty Ranch that features a 145-foot waterslide, zero depth entry pool, activity pool and hot tub. A 57-unit condo-hotel, log homes, quarter-share condominiums, timeshare units, equestrian home sites and the new RV Park will be in addition to the resort's existing 200 rooms. The new conference facilities will be state of the art and the dinner theater will provide a new evening activity, Lipsitz adds.
