SAN DIEGO-A boutique office facility has been proposed for an infill site in the Columbia area of Downtown, with India Street LLC submitting a Centre City development permit application for its intended project. The application will now pass through an administrative review, which is expected to take a couple of months to complete, according to Brad Richter, a principal planner with the Centre City Development Corp., which implements Downtown redevelopment projects and programs. The facility, known as 1337 India, is currently planned for a parcel on the east side of India Street, between A and Ash streets. “It is being proposed for a difficult site that is only 50 ft wide,” Richter tells GlobeSt.com. He says the parcel is sandwiched between a hotel and another office facility.The proposed project’s current design plans call for a nine-story facility that will house 60,000 sf of office space and a 20,000-sf restaurant/retail component. However, Richter says the developer is rethinking the size of the restaurant/retail space, as it may drop a planned bowling alley from the project. “We may see the restaurant/retail component shrink in half and another 10,000 sf added to the office space,” he tells GlobeSt.com.
