Pelzer will be taking over the facility at 2630 Dove Rd. formerly occupied by the Donaldson Co. Pelzer is expected to initially invest approximately $2.1 million in machinery and equipment and add approximately 40 new jobs over the next 18 months.

Pelzer's second facility in Port Huron will be producing floor carpet and foam molded interior trim parts for Honda and General Motors. The building will also house new research and development activities related to emerging product technologies.

"Michigan offers many advantages for manufacturing companies and the Port Huron area, in particular, is very attractive to us for our expanding operations," says David Greeneisen, president and chief executive officer of Pelzer. CB Richard Ellis brokered the transaction.

The Economic Development Alliance of St. Clair County assisted the company in site selection and site development issues and will process the transfer of a tax abatement certificate on the building to Pelzer with the City of Port Huron. An additional tax abatement covering the new equipment will be submitted to the city council for their approval later this year.

"The fact that Pelzer choose to expand operations in Port Huron over a competing location in Ohio is in large part due to the knowledgeable and dedicated workforce that has made the Port Huron facility such a strong performer for the company," says Doug Alexander, executive director of the Alliance.
