She is a former St. Paul council member who also served as an assistant to Mayor George Latimer and as deputy mayor for Coleman. Kimberly replaces Martha Fuller, who left last month to become the chief financial officer of the Seattle Seahawks football team.
Kimberly, who will earn $104,000 a year, directs the city's department of planning and economic development. The department negotiates development deals that involve city subsidies and handles zoning matters. She said she would focus on continuing Kelly's Housing 5000 initiative and expanding the city's economic development programs, including the mayor's drive to make St. Paul a biotechnology center.
