Building Boom Under Way Near County Jail

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI-Mixed-use development is springing up in one of the township's last undeveloped areas, near the Macomb County Jail, where developers had feared to tread.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI-A rural area near the Macomb County Jail and Sheriff’s Office is undergoing a mini building boom. The area in the township–west of Groesbeck Highway and across Elizabeth Road from the Macomb County Jail and Sheriff’s Office–has had several office and industrial buildings constructed in the past couple of years, with three being built and more expected in years to come.

“This entire area has improved tremendously as far as I’m concerned,” says attorney Ron March, who owns and works out of a one-year-old building on Elizabeth, directly across from the jail. “This area is a reflection of the county. It’s rounding out nicely.”

Marsh bought the parcel and moved into an old house on the property six years ago. Two years ago, he decided to raze the house and construct a building after seeing a new BP gas station and Tubby’s submarine sandwich shop open at the corner of Elizabeth and Groesbeck.
