Dual Ceremony Marks White Plains 'Renaissance'

WHITE PLAINS-A double ceremony–a topping off and the start of demolition–serves as the beginning of a Downtown renewal effort here. The topping off of the 35-story Trump Tower at City Center coincided with the beginning of demolition on the site of the $375-million Renaissance Square hotel, residential and office complex. Louis R. Cappelli, president of Cappelli Enterprises, and Donald J. Trump, are partnering on the 212-residence Trump Tower condominium.

Cappelli says this renewal initiative is “infusing our Downtown with new life and spirit in ways that go beyond what most people thought possible.” The event took place at the new Renaissance Fountain Plaza, which was constructed by Cappelli. The Renaissance Square project is located directly across the street from Cappelli’s $325-million City Center development. Already open at City Center are 500,000 sf of retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters and the White Plains Performing Arts Center, as well as One City Place, a 311-unit rental apartment tower.
