SuperValu Creates Post to Land Desmond

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-The grocery retailer and wholesaler hires Matthew Desmond for its new position of corporate vice president of real estate. Desmond has been director of real estate for Wal-Mart.

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN-SuperValu Inc. named Matthew Desmond corporate vice president of real estate. The locally based grocery wholesaler and retailer also says its board of directors elected Desmond as an officer of the company.

In the new created position, he is responsible for overseeing all of SuperValu’s real estate functions, including store development, non- operating properties, store design and construction, project management, lease administration and facility maintenance. Desmond reports to David Boehnen, executive vice president of SuperValu.

Desmond previously worked for Wal-Mart, where he was director of real estate. He was responsible for all of Wal-Mart’s domestic property management lease administration and asset management functions.
