Ritter most recently served as associate editor at the International Council of Shopping Centers' monthly magazine, Shopping Centers Today, where he was responsible for feature stories as well as investigative reporting. Ritter was also editor of ICSC's SCTxtra, a weekly online newsletter. During his career, Ritter also served as a staff writer for the Puget Sound Business Journal and the Everett Tribune in Washington State. In addition, he was a freelance reporter for the Chicago Tribune's Northwest Metro edition.

"Bringing Ian on board is a major part of our strategy as we expand our presence and build on the GlobeSt.com brand," says Jonathan A. Schein, president and CEO of Real Estate Media Inc., which also publishes GlobeSt.com, Real Estate Forum magazine and a range of other real estate related products. "We've produced the Internet's premier destination for real time coverage of the commercial real estate business. Now, with GlobeStRETAIL we've created a whole new niche. GlobeStRETAIL will be delivered to a target audience that includes more than 50,000 executive-level decision-makers."

"Ian's depth of experience as a business journalist, along with his relationships with key national retailers and his distinctive style of reporting on industry news and breaking trends, make him our strategic choice to lead the GlobeStRETAIL editorial team," states Michael G. Desiato, group managing director and editor in chief of Real Estate Media Inc.

"Our goal is to provide not only the latest, most up-to-date news on leasing, financing and development and redevelopment transactions, but also to give our viewers cutting-edge insight and analysis on the retail business," Desiato continues. "We will utilize our GlobeSt.com regional bureau chiefs and reporters nationwide to offer an inside look at the most relevant issues of the day, from national and regional economic indicators, demographics, consumer-buying patterns, regulations, store openings and closings to top strategies, emerging retail formats and how the biggest deals are being made throughout the Southeast, Southwest, West, Midwest and Northeast retail property markets."

John Salustri, national online editor for GlobeSt.com, will also serve as editor at large for GlobeStRETAIL. "The combination of the two websites providing breaking news and in-depth features provides a depth and breadth of coverage that is truly unparalleled in the industry," says Salustri.

Further solidifying GlobeStRETAIL's editorial team, Jackie Day, editorial director for Real Estate Media's Online Newsletter Group, will serve as senior copy editor, and Midwest regional editor Dees Stribling will be managing editor and Midwest bureau chief. Further appointments are expected to follow in coming days.

"This is an exciting new challenge for me, to be an integral part of the Real Estate Media publishing group," says Ritter, a graduate of the Columbia University's School of Journalism. "The success of GlobeSt.com as a ground-breaking online business-to-business information source is well-documented. It was a key reason for accepting this new position."

Real Estate Media's other products are print publications Real Estate Southern California, Midwest Business Quarterly, Real Estate New York and Real Estate New Jersey; online newsletters for the CMBS, international, multifamily and net-lease markets; and the RealShare conference series.
