Interstate Hotels & Resorts Lands 54-Property Management Deal

ARLINGTON, VA-Interstate Hotels & Resorts, already leading the pack as the biggest independent hotel management company in the country, has solidified its position with the acquisition of a recent management assignment from San Clemente, CA-headquartered Sunstone Hotel Investors LLC. Interstate will takeover the management of 54 hotels belonging to Sunstone affiliates. Those currently handling management activities for the properties will move under Interstate’s umbrella; although, physically, they will remain in place.

Sunstone is in the midst of an initial public offering that will render it a publicly traded REIT; that status dictates that the company turn over management of properties it owns to third-party managers. The portfolio, which accounts for 12,643 rooms across 16 states, consists primarily of Marriott, Intercontinental and Hilton brand properties.
