"He feels he's been preparing for this job for 15 years," says Mary Ann Tighe, chief executive officer of CBRE's New York Tri-State Region. Shapiro will report directly to Tighe, who adds that she expects he will eventually oversee operations for Downtown as well. "He'll be stitching together all the different services and integrating all the brokerage services. He is the archetype of the next generation leader at CBRE."

Shapiro guided the Westchester/Fairfield operations to 300% revenue growth over five years. Experienced in both business development and client service, he helped procure clients and was part of the team that garnered the Fairfield County Deal of the Year Award from NAIOP for securing a new corporate headquarters for the Golf Digest division of Advance Publications.

Shapiro received a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and holds an MBA from Cornell University/London Business School. He joined Edward S. Gordon Co. in the consulting group in 1989. In 1997, he co-founded Insignia/ESG's National Brokerage Group, and later served as an assistant to the chairman, Stephen Siegel.
