The company was approved for such in 2002 by township officials, company chief financial officer Kevin Gregory says. ProQuest needs 175,000 sf to 200,000 sf overall, Gregory adds.

Transwestern Commercial Services currently manages the 777 building for Transwestern Investment Co., having acquired the building in the spring from the now-dissolved Great Lakes REIT. Additionally, ProQuest is exploring subleasing up to 10,000 sf in MAV Development's South State Commons II for a data center, sources say. That building, just north of the 777 building, is leased to the Michigan Information Technology Center. The company's manufacturing facilities would continue to be located elsewhere.

ProQuest had initially considered the 777 property early in its search for a new headquarters only before entertaining a move into the newly constructed "connector" at Domino's Farms in the township. ProQuest is seeking tax breaks to move into the city despite already leasing 80,000 sf at the Eisenhower Commerce Center, southeast of the 777 building.

Gregory says no firm decision has been made about a new location for its headquarters, now on Zeeb Road in Scio Township. He adds it's still possible the company could relocate to Ohio, where it has facilities in Richfield and Wooster, in suburban Cleveland.
