Frank Stringi of the town's planning department, tells GlobeSt.com that Wilmington-based Channel Building Co. made a formal proposal to Revere's city council. The project, which involves four retail stores and restaurant for a total of 52,724 sf, requires a special permit because the zoning doesn't allow for retail development.
The site is owned by the Bell family and currently houses three buildings that are occupied by a Lappen's Auto Parts store and other automotive uses. Mayor Thomas G. Ambrosino tells GlobeSt.com that the town is very supportive of Channel's proposal, noting that a number of projects are breathing new life into the area.
Recently, Necco moved in, a Comfort Inn hotel was built and Fleet bank built a new branch. In addition Mass Highway fixed the road. "This is the final piece of [the area's] redevelopment," he says.
