BOMA gathered information from various agencies including the Mayor's Office for Disabilities, the Department of Health and Hygiene to formulate the response. Representatives from both groups are expected shortly to meet to review the document. A BOMA spokesperson says the groups is "very optimistic" that the department will accept the EAP.

BOMA envisions the EAP as being an addendum to the city's Fire SafetyPlan with the EAP relating specifically to emergency/non-fire events. One of the plan's main goals is to inform and prepare building owners and managers in their need to identify areas of vulnerability within their properties. The EAP also calls for a more coordinated structure of cooperation and informed judgment between intra-building agencies and personnel who relate directly with employee safety and business continuity.

BOMA also had 16 volunteers manning the desks at the city's Office of Emergency Management during last week's Republican National Convention. Among the volunteers were: Shmuel Garcia, Lou Gonzalez, and Peter Kinney of Allied Security; Al Lyons of ARUP; Debra Smith of Cushman & Wakefield; Lou Trimboli of CBRE; John Tobin of Collier ABR; Tom Krol of Genergy; Steve Gocinski of Honeywell Security; Jessica Handy and Robert Riggs of Newmark & Co.; Bill Proceller of Rockrose Development; Ken Barnes of Securitas Security and Tony Winckowski of Summit Security. The desk was fed notifications of protests that were e-mailed to the membership so they could take precautions at their buildings.
